You should, however, be mindful of making your web presences part of a domain you control. If you would like to map a subdomain and have not yet created it, use\u00a0<a class=\"urlextern\" title=\"http:\/\/sites.grinnell.edu\/support\/cpanel\/creating-subdomains\" href=\"http:\/\/sites.grinnell.edu\/support\/uncategorized\/setting-up-subdomains\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">this tutorial on creating subdomains<\/a>\u00a0before proceeding. To map your domain, or a subdomain, to Blogger, use these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li class=\"level1\">Log in and navigate to your cPanel. Click the\u00a0<strong>Search box<\/strong>\u00a0at the top, right-hand corner and type \u201c<abbr title=\"Domain Name System\">DNS<\/abbr>\u201d (without the quotes).<\/li>\n<li class=\"level1\">Click on the\u00a0<strong>Zone Editor<\/strong>\u00a0icon.<\/li>\n<li class=\"level1\">Find the domain (or subdomain) you want to map to Blogger in the list and click <strong>Manage<\/strong>.\n<div class=\"li\"><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level0\">\n<div class=\"li\">Create a new\u00a0<strong>CNAME<\/strong> record by clicking <strong>Add Record<\/strong>. To save, click Add Record.<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.grinnell.edu\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Screen-Shot-2018-03-30-at-3.51.47-PM.png\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-139 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.grinnell.edu\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Screen-Shot-2018-03-30-at-3.51.47-PM.png\" alt=\"Screenshot of CNAME record addition\" width=\"1380\" height=\"86\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.grinnell.edu\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Screen-Shot-2018-03-30-at-3.51.47-PM.png 1380w, https:\/\/sites.grinnell.edu\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Screen-Shot-2018-03-30-at-3.51.47-PM-300x19.png 300w, https:\/\/sites.grinnell.edu\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Screen-Shot-2018-03-30-at-3.51.47-PM-768x48.png 768w, https:\/\/sites.grinnell.edu\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Screen-Shot-2018-03-30-at-3.51.47-PM-1024x64.png 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1380px) 100vw, 1380px\" \/><\/a>Keep this window open; you will need it in later steps.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level0\">\n<div class=\"li\">In a new window, go to the Blogger website, and login with your Blogger\/Google username and password.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level0\">\n<div class=\"li\">From your Blogger Dashboard, find the blog you&#8217;d like to use, expand the\u00a0<strong>More Options<\/strong>\u00a0menu, and click\u00a0<strong>Settings<\/strong>.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level0\">\n<div class=\"li\">On the \u201cBasic Settings\u201d page, find the Publishing section, and click the\u00a0<strong>Setup a 3rd party\u00a0<abbr title=\"Uniform Resource Locator\">URL<\/abbr>\u00a0for your blog<\/strong>\u00a0link.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level0\">\n<div class=\"li\">Under\u00a0<strong>Advanced Settings<\/strong>, type the full subdomain or domain you are mapping into the box, leave the\u00a0<strong>Use missing files host?<\/strong>\u00a0option set to\u00a0<strong>No<\/strong>, then click\u00a0<strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level0\">\n<div class=\"li\">You will be presented with a message that your domain cannot be verified, along with information about your existing\u00a0<abbr title=\"Domain Name System\">DNS<\/abbr>\u00a0entry, and an additional\u00a0<abbr title=\"Domain Name System\">DNS<\/abbr>\u00a0entry that needs to be made. This is normal. Copy the second entry under the\u00a0<strong>Name, Label, or Host entry<\/strong>\u00a0to your clipboard.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level0\">\n<div class=\"li\">Go back to the window or tab containing the<strong>\u00a0Zone Editor<\/strong>\u00a0in your Sites at Grinnell College cPanel. Create another records\u00a0by clicking\u00a0<strong>Add a Record<\/strong>. Paste the text you just copied into the\u00a0<strong>Name<\/strong>\u00a0field. This information will be different for each domain. Set the\u00a0<strong>TTL<\/strong>\u00a0field to 14400, and the\u00a0<strong>Type<\/strong>\u00a0drop-down menu to\u00a0<strong>CNAME<\/strong>. <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.grinnell.edu\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/edit_blogger_record_final_1.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-573\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.grinnell.edu\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/edit_blogger_record_final_1.png\" alt=\"Edit Blogger record page\" width=\"962\" height=\"301\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.grinnell.edu\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/edit_blogger_record_final_1.png 962w, https:\/\/sites.grinnell.edu\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/edit_blogger_record_final_1-300x94.png 300w, https:\/\/sites.grinnell.edu\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/edit_blogger_record_final_1-768x240.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 962px) 100vw, 962px\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li class=\"level0\">\n<div class=\"li\">Go back to the window or tab containing the Blogger Advanced settings panel, and copy the second entry under the\u00a0<strong>Destination, Target, or Points to<\/strong>\u00a0column to your clipboard.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level0\">\n<div class=\"li\">Go back to the window or tab containing the\u00a0<strong>Advanced\u00a0<abbr title=\"Domain Name System\">DNS<\/abbr>\u00a0Zone Editor<\/strong>\u00a0in your sites.grinnell.edu cPanel. In the\u00a0<strong>Zone File Records<\/strong>\u00a0section, find the domain you were editing\u00a0<strong>Action<\/strong>\u00a0for and paste the text you just copied into the\u00a0<strong>CNAME<\/strong>\u00a0field. This information will be different for each domain. Click\u00a0<strong>Add record\u00a0<\/strong>when you are done.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level0\">\n<div class=\"li\">Return to the window or tab containing the Blogger Advanced settings panel, and click\u00a0<strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level0\">\n<div class=\"li\">If everything was successful, your domain will now appear as the\u00a0<strong>Blog Address<\/strong>.
