    2.<\/span>Logging In to Your Portfolio<\/span> #<\/span>

    Once you have an account, you can log in to the back end of your Sites @ Grinnell domain by navigating to https:\/\/sites.grinnell.edu<\/a> and clicking the cPanel Dashboard menu option. You will be logged in to your domain via single sign-on. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    From within cPanel, you can access your portfolio by clicking My Apps<\/strong> and then clicking the second link under your portfolio title (ending with \/wp-admin\/), which will log you in to the admin back-end of your portfolio website. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Sites @ Grinnell keep regular back-ups (of the last 30 days of content) so have no fear in case of any glitches or issues! We will be able to restore your content using the latest backup. <\/p>\n<\/div>

    3.<\/span>Requesting a Portfolio Through Sites @ Grinnell<\/span> #<\/span>

    Sites @ Grinnell<\/a> is a platform that allows Grinnell College community members to host their own domains at no cost (through the College\u2019s partnership with Reclaim Hosting<\/a>), providing web hosting that users can control and the freedom to host, explore, and play around with a wide variety of open-source web applications. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    You can use Sites @ Grinnell to build a portfolio site of your own: simply navigate to https:\/\/sites.grinnell.edu\/<\/a> and click the \u201cRequest a Domain\u201d button to make your request. You can indicate that you would like a WordPress site with the Art Portfolio Template installed on it, and you can choose your domain URL (the part that comes before sites.grinnell.edu). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    4.<\/span>Making Your Site Private<\/span> #<\/span>

    If you\u2019d like to keep your site private while you\u2019re working on it, you can use the Password Protect WordPress (PPWP) plugin<\/strong>, which comes pre-installed on the Arts & Humanities Portfolio template by default: the plugin makes your site (or certain site pages) available only to users with a password of your choosing.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Simply mouse over the Password Protect WordPress page from the left-hand navigation menu and click Sitewide Protection<\/strong> in the menu that appears when you hover. From there, check the toggle to enable password protection, set a password, and click the blue Save Changes<\/strong> button to save. When you\u2019re ready to make your site public, simply uncheck the box.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Please note that while the plugin is active, site pages and content are not available publicly, but site Media Library content (such as images) are still accessible via their direct link.<\/p>\n<\/div>

    5.<\/span>Using Elementor to Build Out Site Pages<\/span> #<\/span>

    You will use WordPress\u2019s Pages<\/strong> feature to build webpages. Pages are static (vs. Posts, which are blog posts that appear in chronological order and can be associated with tags and categories). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The Art Portfolio template uses a pagebuilder plugin called Elementor for building out page content. Elementor allows you to drag and drop content types called \u201cwidgets\u201d onto a page, and easily organize them in different Sections, with Columns within them (Sections > Columns > Widgets). <\/p>\n\n\n

    Follow these instructions for creating or editing a page: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Click Pages<\/strong> in the left-hand navigation menu. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
        \n
      1. Click Add New<\/strong> if you want to create a new page or click the title of an existing page if you want to edit it. Some template pages have been created for you. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        1. Click the blue Edit with Elementor<\/strong> button to edit the page in Elementor. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          1. Click the plus button on the page to add a new page section and select your desired column layout. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

            1. Click the plus button in the top left (part of the side menu) to add content widgets to the page by dragging and dropping them. You can search for widgets or browse the Basic and General sections of the Widget menu. (Please note that Pro widgets are not available with the basic Elementor plugin.) Some widgets of interest: \n
